Hank Tuell is a third year student at General Theological Seminary, located in Chelsea. He serves as an assistant chaplain to Canterbury Downtown and is active as a minister to NYU students through the LGBTQ Center and MuCh, the Muslim Christian dialogue group on campus. Today the Bishop of Montana ordained him as a deacon in the Episcopal Church.
His ministry will later include an ordination to the priesthood, but it is rooted, as is the call to us all to follow Christ, in his baptism.
Today I invite you to pray with the Church as we give thanks for Hank’s ministry among us and reflect on our own call to follow Christ in the work that is set before us to do in this world.
We thank you for raising up among us faithful servants for the ministry of your Word and Sacraments. We pray that Hank may be to us an effective example in word and action, in love and patience, and in holiness of life.
Grant that we, with him, may serve you now, and always rejoice in your glory; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
